SPRINGFIELD – Advocating for environmental protections, protecting family farms, supporting working families and strengthening organized labor are major priorities for State Senator Dave Koehler, who was sworn in to his seventh term Wednesday.

“I am humbled to represent the people of the greater Peoria and Bloomington-Normal areas, and I do not take the trust and responsibility of this position lightly,” said Koehler. “I will continue to work to earn their trust and fight for the needs of the community.”

Koehler was elected to the Illinois Senate in 2006, and was promoted to Assistant Majority Leader in 2019. He represents the greater Peoria area, Bloomington-Normal, and parts of McLean, Tazewell and Woodford counties following redistricting in 2022.

“From tackling different issues and budget challenges, and in working together with my colleagues, I learn how to be a better legislator with each session I serve,” said Koehler. “I am honored to serve as a state senator, and I am thankful for the trust my community has placed in me.”
